Troy Buswell Elected Leader

Troy Buswell has been elected Leader of the State Liberal Party

Mr Buswell defeated Rob Johnson for the leadership. Paul Omodei choose not to contest the party leadership.

Kim Hames defeated Capel MLA Steve Thomas for the position of Deputy Leader.

The final count was Troy Buswell 17, Rob Johnson 10 votes with one MP writing Paul Omodei on the ballot paper.

Buswell - what the rest of WA thinks

Amazing - to read our local newspapers, you would think Buswell had never got drunk at work, never groped a junior staffer, never betrayed Masters, Birney and Omodei, never back-flipped on issues too numerous to mention and never presided as Shire President over a disastrous two years of Shire inaction.
I suppose having spent $100,000 on his last campaign, Buswell knows the local free papers will never bite the hand that feeds them, and so he will stay free of any serious criticism on his own turf.
Let's hope the people of Vasse read a little more widely (like the 'Your Say' blogs on the West website) to find out what the rest of WA thinks of Buswell. They are not impressed - especially the women!

Matt Birney and Colin

Matt Birney and Colin Barnett quite the Liberal Party when it became clear Troy was going to take over. Katie Hodson Thomas quit too and it looks like Sue Walker will quit the Libs as well. I can't see Rob Johnson staying either and Omodei will clearly be p*ssed off.

Seems like there isn't much of a Party for Troy to lead.
Would the last person to leave the Liberal Party please turn out the lights.

I also can't believe that Troy went ahead with the challenge yesterday after he had heard that Trevor Sprigg had had a heart attack. Could he not have waited a few days or so?? A heartless move from someone who only cares about himself.
It is no wonder he is hated by so many of his own party.
